UEFA Champions League: Roberto Firmino helps Liverpool beat Benfica to advance to the semi-finals.

A 3-3 draw with Benfica on Wednesday meant that Liverpool would play Villarreal in the Champions League semi-finals. In the second half, Roberto Firmino scored two goals to make it 6-4 overall.

Juergen Klopp’s team was 3-1 up at the end of the game, but the visitors scored two late goals to make the game more exciting.

Goalkeeper Ibrahima Konate’s powerful header in the 21st minute gave Liverpool the lead. Benfica forward Darwin Nunez had an effort ruled out for offside before Konate’s goal.

A goal from Goncalo Ramos in the 11th minute brought Benfica level with Alisson Becker. James Milner’s tackle on Ramos in the box set up Ramos, who beat Becker.

However, after the break, Brazilian forward Firmino scored two goals for Liverpool as they tried to make it to the semi-finals for the third time in the last five years.

That didn’t work out for Benfica, though. Roman Yaremchuk and Nunez both scored with goals that were thought to be offside at first but were allowed after VAR reviews.

Also, Nunez had a goal disallowed in the last minute of the game.
