Champions League Quarterfinals

In the Champions League, Chelsea will play 13-time winners Real Madrid. Manchester City will play Atletico Madrid. Benfica was chosen for Liverpool; all three English teams were kept apart, and Bayern Munich and Villarreal were chosen for the quarter.

Chelsea wants to keep their European title even though there has been a lot of trouble at the Stamford Bridge club. The British government put Russian owner Roman Abramovich under sanctions after Russia invaded Ukraine. The club was put up for sale.

Thomas Tuchel’s team is set to play Real at home in the first leg on April 5 or 6. The second leg will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu a week after that.

Chelsea may have to play their next home Champions League games behind closed doors because of EU sanctions against Abramovich, making it hard for them to sell tickets.

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea team beat Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League last season. They went on to beat Pep Guardiola’s City in the final in Porto and win the Champions League for the second time under owner Roman Abramovich.

There is a chance for Chelsea and City to play each other in the semi-finals if both of their quarter-final opponents are from Spain. Chelsea and City know that they will meet in the last four if they both win.

Atletico Madrid will be back in the United Kingdom for the first leg of their tie with Manchester City, which will see Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone go head-to-head. Manchester United was knocked out in the last 16.

The favorable draw for Liverpool

2019 European champions Liverpool are still in the running to win a quadruple this season. The first leg of that tie will be played in Lisbon, and Liverpool is expected to win.

This season, Benfica is in third place in the Portuguese league, but they knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League and then beat Ajax.

If Bayern Munich or Villarreal win, they’ll face each other in the last four. Bayern will play in Spain for the first leg against Unai Emery’s team.

Last season, Villarreal won the Europa League and reached the Champions League quarter-finals by defeating Juventus, who lost 3-0 in Turin on Wednesday. Villarreal went through 4-1 on aggregate to reach the last eight.

If you want to go to a Champions League semi-final, it will be in late April and early May. The Champions League final will be in Paris on May 28, and it will be at the Stade de France.

St. Petersburg, Russia, was supposed to play host to the match at first, but UEFA took away the match from the city because Russia had been fighting in Ukraine.

It is the third year that UEFA has moved the Champions League final. The Covid-19 virus caused the 2020 final to be moved from Istanbul to Lisbon, and then last year, the final was moved from the Turkish city to Porto.

The Stade de France, a stadium that can hold 80,000 people, has played host to the Champions League final twice before. Real Madrid beat Valencia in 2000, and Barcelona beat Arsenal in 2006.
