Messi Neymar Shine As Rampant PSG End Japan Tour In Style

Christophe Galtier, the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain, said that his team let up “two goals too many” despite Lionel Messi and Neymar’s lethal combination in Monday’s 6-2 hammering of Gamba Osaka. Messi and Neymar each scored one goal as a rampaging PSG finished their preseason tour of Japan with their third straight victory.

The French Super Cup match between the champions of France and Nantes will now take place in Tel Aviv on July 31.

Galtier claimed facing J-League opponents during their domestic season had “pushed us to elevate our physical level” after taking command of the whole team for the first time since joining PSG from Nice this summer.

After PSG’s third game in as many days, he noted, “We practiced a lot, we played a lot with little rest time.”

However, I’m ultimately happy with this game and the three matches we’ve played here in Japan.

Both star strikers Neymar and Messi participated in the first 70 minutes of play against Gamba, with Neymar scoring a penalty in the first half and assisting on Messi’s goal.

In the second half, Messi paid it forward by unleashing Neymar to score the Brazilian’s second goal of the match.

After being substituted for the last 30 minutes, Kylian Mbappe finally put his name on the scoreboard with a late penalty.

PSG also had goals from Nuno Mendes and Pablo Sarabia, but Galtier was troubled by how his side let up two goals to Gamba, who is now 16th in the J-League standings.

He added that we gave up two goals, which is two too many, so there is still much work to be done.

“I’m hoping that even when we have a big lead, playing team defense will make us harder to defeat. We need to be better organized.”

PSG defeated Urawa Reds 3-0 three days after defeating Kawasaki Frontale 2-1 in their first matchup in Japan on Wednesday.
