iPhone 12 Series to Ship Without EarPods, Charging Adapter: Report

The iPhone 12 is expected to launch this fall, and a new note to the investor reiterates that Apple this time won’t include wired headphones inside the retail box. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted the same thing in the past, suggesting that it is a strategic move to drive better AirPods sales. The Cupertino giant is expected to not bring any AirPods updates this year, after launching two new models last year. Therefore, this new strategy could help drive sales of AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro during the holiday season.

A new note for Barclays investors has been published accessed by MacRumors, and firm analysts also suggest the iPhone 12 series won’t come with EarPods in the box. The note continues to add that Apple also cannot ship the iPhone 12 series with a power adapter. This means that the retail box is expected to include only the iPhone and a USB Type-C to the Lightning cable inside the box. The Barclays analyst says the information was obtained based on conversations with multiple Apple providers.

If true, iPhone 12 buyers may have to pay more if they don’t have a USB Type-C charger at home. In the United States, a 5W Apple adapter costs $ 19 (approximately Rs. 1,500), while the 18W adapter is priced at $ 29 (approximately Rs. 2,100). The 18W adapter is currently shipped with the iPhone 11 Pro.

Analysts say Apple is four to six weeks behind schedule for mass production of the iPhone 12. The company will continue to introduce the new iPhone 12 series in September, but the sale of some models won’t start until October.

Speaking of cameras, analysts suggest that the two ‘high-end iPhone 12 Pro models’ will have a triple camera setup with a LiDAR scanner. This suggests that new iPhones may see amplified AR experiences.

Even Barclays analysts predict AirPods will launch in early 2021, and this year there will be no update. They also appear to have heard of an iPad Pro update later this year but haven’t detailed much about the possible upcoming device.
